Hello and welcome to Cranham Originals
My name is Paula and I began making my baskets from rope as an eco friendly, and beautifully tactile alternative to plastic. I try to use natural materials sourced from the UK as much as possible and each is handmade by me in my small studio and coloured using thread, natural dyes,or fabric.
I sell many baskets in person at shows, markets and fairs but I also make bespoke commissions, for a gift, special occasion, or for yourself - so just contact me.
I can make any item similar to any shown on this site. Unlike buying from the high street, when you buy from me, not only do you speak with the one who made it, and get something different, but you are also allowing me to continue my creative passion and supporting a local UK micro business.

Larger baskets are available for those warmer days. Big enough to carry towels and books to the beach, or for carrying your market purchases home. They are made with or without a colourful drawstring liner, and are of course always an original design
Smaller than a standard shopping basket and great for everyday, or a special occasion, these can be made in varying designs and colours to match your style.
A great idea for summer parties or weddings, and even a unique thank you gift for bridesmaids.
I am also now making 'keepsake' baskets. If you have a fabric that reminds you of a loved one, a christening gown or wedding, or anything with sentimental value, why not incorporate it into a basket so you have a permanent reminder? Or take a little reminder of that someone special with you when getting married?
You can never have enough storage. From small to large, there's something for every room. Be it a small bowl for keys or jewellery. A basket for toilet rolls, face towels or make up, a place to showcase your favourite plant, or a large floor standing basket for throws. Don't see it here yet? Just ask!
Firstly decide what size you'd like. For carrying baskets, what type of handles, be that leather, vegan leather (PU) or made from the rope itself.
Then decide on your colours and whether you'd like an inner pocket, or drawstring liner and choose your fabric (details can be sent to you so you can select a fabric pattern or colour). Prices for my handbag or market baskets start from as little as £39, but this is dependent on size required and the type of materials used.
